Industrial PC motherboards are generally not that interesting, but at least a couple of ASRock's new models could be quite suitable for HTPC usage. the company has quietly added three IPC motherboards to its range of otherwise consumer focused products and for a first attempt, the company has done a pretty good job.
Going by model name we start with the IMB-140 which in many ways is the most advanced model of the three, as it sports the most impressive collection of connectivity options with two PS/2 ports, three rear serial ports – one of which has an RJ-45 interface – four USB 2.0 ports, dual Gigabit Ethernet, a pair of audio jacks, a D-sub and an HDMI connector. the board also has a pair of SATA ports – a limitation of the NM10 chipset – headers for three additional USB 2.0 ports, three serial ports and a parallel port, an LVDS connector, a mini PCI Express slot, a PCI slot, a Compact Flash card slot and two SO-DIMM slots. so in other words, very much an IPC board, something that's further enhanced by the fact that the board is powered by a 12V connector instead of a standard ATX connector.
Next up we have the IMB-141 and IMB-142, two very similar boards with only one differentiator between them. here we're looking at a low-profile board with only two USB 2.0 ports, and one or two Gigabit Ethernet ports (this is the difference between the two models), a pair of audio jacks, an HDMI and DVI port. the boards also have headers for an additional six USB 2.0 ports, two serial ports, a D-sub connector and LVDS. as with the IMB-140 we also find a PCI slot, a mini PCI Express slot, a Compact Flash slot, two SATA ports, two SO-DIMM slots and a 12V power input.
All three models features an Atom D2700 CPU at 2.13GHz as standard with support for up to 4GB of DDR3 1066MHz memory, although the IMB-141 and IMB-142 is also available in a SKU with a mobile Atom N2800 processor at 1.86GHz. we didn't manage to locate either model for sale as yet, so it's likely that ASRock hasn't released them into the channel as yet.

I have a telephony modem that we just installed and I need to convert from standard RJ11 connector to a CAT-5 cable, our board that splits the phone line is wired all into CAT-5. I have a separate way to split my data into the CAT-5's, I just need to figure out how to split the voice up. thanks.
We seem to be fighting a losing battle in the correct use of terminology, but the modular connectors used for Ethernet are NOT properly designated RJ45. in fact they aren't RJ-anything.
RJ stands for "Registered Jack," and the designations originated in the 1970s in the Bell System as a means to clearly identify specific wiring configurations for phone service. The numbers refer to a specific combination of both modular plug/jack style AND its method of wiring. both RJ11 and RJ14 use the same size plugs, for example, but RJ11 is single-pair for one phone line while RJ14 is a 2-pair connection for two lines.
Since these are TelCo designations, Ethernet has never been part of the system. For some reason, "RJ45" has been hijacked to refer to the 8-way modular plugs on computer networks, despite the fact that a true RJ45 connection was in fact for a modem with adjustable transmission level, and doesn't even use the same type of plug as Ethernet.
You are mixing two different types of terminology. RJ 11 or 12 and RJ45 are types of modular connectors for jacks. an RJ11 is for two pair wire (4 connectors), and RJ 12 is for three pair wire (6 connectors) and an RJ45 (8 connectors) is for four pair wire. Category 5 and 5e are types of cable and the numbers depict the data speed transmission the cable will carry. Category 3 cable is voice grade while Cat 5, 5e and 6 are data grade. The higher the number the better the data transmission.
RJ-45 and the CAT-5 is the same thing!!
You need not be a networking expert in having the ability to wire CAT6 cable to an RJ-45 connector. It is very easy to perform the task provided you can read a CAT6 wiring diagram and can identify color codes properly.
To perform the task, you need to know that CAT6 cable is composed of 8 wires covered with PVC (polyvinyl chloride insulation and that each such insulation has a different color to it. you also need to procure the CAT6 cable before you can connect it. you need to know the current retail prices for the CAT6 cable.
Currently, the retail price of standard 23 AWG (American Wire Gauge) CAT6 cable from a branded cable manufacturer is somewhere around $0.50 a foot. So you can very well calculate the total cost of procurement for the cable provided you measure out the routing distance in feet between your computer Ethernet port and the device to which you want to connect it to.

One uses the TIA/EIA-568-A wiring standard and the other the TIA/EIA-568-B wiring standard. Do ensure you get a CAT6 cable duly certified and stamped with the standards to which it conforms. otherwise, if the cable fails, you will need to again procure a better one with needless extra expenditure for doing so.
