Since I wasn’t using lineart this time, I simply filled in the base colors over the sketch and worked with the highlights and shadows until it started to take shape again. It was certainly different, and I wasn’t sure if I could make it work at all. The hardest part was probably her hair, it took several passes of shadows and highlights to make it well enough defined. I also added a few extra strands for style.

I randomly decided to make this image for when my old site rolled around to 30K visits, mostly just an excuse to do something new. I also wanted to try an image that was completely lineless this time around, a style I don’t normally use. For the initial sketch I was originally thinking of a beach like setting or something, but honestly I was just going without a plan and seeing what came out. Usagi’s hair curls are always fun to draw.

I tried to go for some really nice, bright colors here. The shading on the legs took me a little while to be happy with, and the torso was a bit of work as well. I really like her eyes and the subtle shading on the hair. Not my best, but a nice little fanart regardless.

Misty / Kasumi was always one of my favorite Pokemon characters, so of course I wanted to do a fanart sooner or later. I wanted a sort of cheerful, happy look to it so I went with a stretching pose of sorts. A clean, no fuss lineart that went pretty smoothly overall.

Kasumi isn’t very hard to draw and there’s not a lot of detail in this one, but the hair and the shorts were still fun.

I wanted the color tones to still be bright, but slightly darker than what I usually go with. Everything has a nice glossy shine, and I tried to give the face a bit more expression. The skin was a bit of a hassle, especially working around all the outfit details, but otherwise things went fairly smoothly. I like how complete the image looks in general.
